Melisa had a recent interview with Latino USA where she wanted to set the record straight in regards to her Scream contract.

She stated “I also, like, want to clarify that, I technically wasn’t fired because I hadn’t signed my contract because of the strike. So my contract was done, but I hadn’t signed it because I couldn’t because we were on strike. So technically,  they didn’t fire me. They just dropped me. They were just like, Oh … bye.”

It’s clear after much speculation behind the reason she wasn’t going to be included in Scream 7, she wanted to make sure that the fans and industry know the full story to avoid ongoing speculation.

Regardless, Scream 7 is only a few months away as it is due late 2024 to early 2025. I for one am curious to see how this plot can be salvaged after such big strides were made during Scream 6 to distance the story from Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), with the focus being placed on Sam and Tara Carpenter (Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega).
